Note and Brief from Marci Hamilton on Clergy Crimes

Dear All:

This follows on the heels of the news release that was posted yesterday and sent out on the network “First Amendment Does Not Protect Criminal Activities”  You can see the news release at

I have done a very quick run through of my lists and selected you to receive this brief.  It is well worth the read if you are planning on participating in the polygamy reference hearings in B.C.; or, if you are planning on submitting a brief.  For guide lines, please write to the Honourable Michael de Jong, Attorney General of B.C.,

I have not garnered any law faculties from Canada on my network over the years.  If you wish to forward this note and attachment to legal counsel or law faculties or any other organization interested in clergy crimes, please feel free.

Marci Hamilton, a FindLaw columnist, is the Paul R. Verkuil Chair in Public Law at Benjamin N.

Hi Nancy–  I am so glad Andrea sent out this notice.   I actually brought the amicus groups together in the Ramani case and wrote the brief.  I am attaching it so you can decide to which of your listservs to send it.  It would be good if those litigating the polygamy issues in Canada read it.

Best regards and happy holidays, Marci

Las Vegas is full of Polygamy groups. There are compounds with high cement walls and locked electric gates.

You never hear about this due to “Censorship” in the media.

Anyway they have Senator Harry Reids and son Rory Reid law firm Lionel Sawyer and Collins and others to protect and control this.

Why does alleged devout Mormon “Senator Harry Reid” see that” Warren Jeffs” group receive Federal Construction contracts in the Arizona and Nevada area?

Why does alleged devout Mormons Senator Harry Reid and Rory Reid profit in there shareholder position at Lionel Sawyer and Collins off victims of clergy/crimes and abuses?

Why does alleged devout Mormon Senator Harry Reid and Rory Reid profit off the victim of Ramani V Segelstein?

Do you believe it is a “human rights abuse” for politicians to support Polygamy: and profit off sex crimes punishments against victims that come forward?

Why does alleged devout Mormon Senator Harry Reid allow for an abusive Rabbi to come and say prayers at the Senate floor when he knew the case and pocketed profits off the sex crime of the victim who came close to death?

Oh so children and women mean nothing when you have political power?

    Israel arrests polygamist cult leader

    January 14, 2010

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Tel Aviv polygamist cult leader living with at least 17 women and his 38 children was arrested on suspicion of abuses ranging from enslavement to rape.

Goel Ratzon, who is reported to have up to 32 wives and 89 children, was arrested Monday; a media gag order was lifted Thursday.

Ratzon reportedly has been collecting wives since 1993. The “family” lives in an apartment complex in southern Tel Aviv.

The women and children were forced to abide by a rulebook that forbade the women from talking to other men, contacting their families, dressing immodestly, eating meat or smoking.

Police were concerned that the women would commit mass suicide when Ratzon was taken into custody. They questioned and detained 17 of the wives and the children, who met with social workers and psychologists. Some were transferred to homes for abused women, according to reports.

Ratzon, 60, never officially married any of the women that he calls his wives. Police learned of his cult in 2000, but social workers determined that the children were well fed, clean and clothed properly.
